Welcome to our home. I would like to tell you a brief history of how we became Maple Leaf Shelties. Dan and Tammy Riggs along with their three children, Tiffany, Courtney and John, are very involved with many hobbies. Tammy has been showing horses all her life from quarter, paint, Tennessee walkers and Arabians. Tammy showed in everything from halter, confirmation, equitation, English and Western pleasure, jumping, running poles and barrels. After numerous surgeries and re-breaking of her right arm, Tammy and Courtney decided the horses are beautiful living ornaments and a new hobby was needed. Hence Maple Leaf Shelties was established February, 1985 with the purchase of our first sheltie. Since then we have been growing and learning more about the Shetland sheepdog. We now show in conformation and agility, with the understanding that we are working towards herding. We believe in doing all the required testing before breeding for a well-rounded, healthy sheltie that is not only a good pet, performance or conformation dog, but is healthy as well. All dogs that we sell are sold on a contract with a health guarantee. Puppies are sold on a spay/neuter contract. We strive to breed the dogs according to the breed standard. We try to socialize our puppies to the best of our abilities with children, vacuum, television and music noises. We also introduce them to cats, horses and other dogs to give them a well rounded social grounding. We breed mostly for ourselves, friends and family. However, we would be happy to assist anyone to find their perfect puppy. Please understand that we do not just sell our puppies to anyone. We feel as if we are placing a member of our family in yours. We are proud to say we have a long and happy list of satisfied pet owners who will attest to the loving environment their pet came from. References gladly given upon request. If you are looking for a loving, happy Sheltie, then Maple Leaf Shelties is what you may wont to consider looking at.

We look forward to hearing from you!
